If you have used the ManyTimer option to assign photos to categories or timers, you may have noticed a pop-up asking you to allow the ManyTimer app to use your current location. If you Allow the app to use your current location, the photos will appear correctly. If you select Don't Allow, however, the photo browser will be blank and appear to keep "loading" forever.
If you have selected Don't Allow, but want to add photos to timers or categories, you can enable Location Services for ManyTimer by going to the Settings app and selecting General and then Location Services. You can turn on or off Location Services for any app that requests them, including ManyTimer. Once you change the setting, you may also need to restart ManyTimer using the following steps:
a. Double tap the home button
b. Look for the ManyTimer icon on the bottom of the screen
c. Hold your finger on the icon until the icons start to shake and show a red icon.
d. Tap the red icon on ManyTimer to close the app.
e. Restart the app by tapping its icon from the home screen.
Rest assured, that ManyTimer does not use Location Services for any reason other than allowing you to select your photos to be used within the app itself. The reason Location Services is needed is due to Apple's photo library browsing interface. The interface provides an option to access a photo's location information, which is not used by ManyTimer.
If you don't plan on using photos within ManyTimer for your categories and timers, you can safely turn off Location Services for ManyTimer.
Carl,
ReplyDeleteI recently downloaded your app. I setup a timer via by using a date and the timer doesn't match what I've defined. For example, I defined a timer by using today's date and 7:30pm. The current time of day is 1:30pm. When I look at the timer, it says that it will go off in 7 hours, which means that it will go off at 8:30pm. I don't understand. Is it a time zone problem?

It may be a time zone problem. I'll try manually changing some time/date settings on my phone and see if I can figure out what might be the issue.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem to be a time zone issue. The date picker is incorrectly configured to display the time in Pacific Time rather than your local time. So when you first create a new timer it would probably show the time one hour behind (e.g. if it is 1:30pm it would show 12:30pm). Then when you set the time to 7:30pm it is 7 hours until 7:30pm Pacific time so that is what the countdown is representing.
ReplyDeleteI will probably submit a patch version in the next few days to fix this issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I had no trouble attaching photos to the app but I can't upload a photo to this blog as a follower.
