ManyTimer App - Instructions

1. When you first open the app you are given five built-in categories "All Timers", "Expired", "Running", "Stopped", and "Uncategorized". But there are no timers yet.

2. If you want to start creating your own categories for your timers such as "Household", "Games", for example, continue to step 3. Otherwise, tap the "All Timers" category and skip to step 4.

3a. Tap the + (Add) button to create a category
3b. First you can change the name of the Category, the default name will be Category 1, Category 2, Category 3, etc.
3c. Next you can add a Photo to the category by tapping the Photo button. You can choose a photo from your camera roll (on iPhone), or any from any photo album you have synched to your iPhone or iPod touch using iTunes.
3d. If you want all the timers in the category to have the same countdown time (for example 5 minutes) you can set the default time using the dials.
3e. if you want all the countdown timers in the category to have the same alarm sound, tap the Alarm button and choose the alarm sound. A preview of each sound you tap will be played. When you have selected the sound you like, tap the Save button. If you prefer an extended alarm sound for the timers in this category, tap the Extended Alarm option before tapping the Save button.
3f. Press the Save button to save the category.
3g. Now you should see the new category at the top of the list. Tap the category to start creating timers.

4a. Tap the + (Add) button to create a timer.
4b. First you can change the name of the Timer, the default name will be Timer 1, Timer 2, Timer 3, etc.
4c. If you are creating a countdown timer, you can set the starting countdown in number of weeks, days, hours and minutes and seconds using the dials. If you want to countdown to a future date or count up from a past date, choose the Date option, and the countdown dials will change to a date picker where you can select a date and time.
4d. You can change the Alarm sound by tapping the Alarm button and choose the alarm sound. A preview of each sound you tap will be played. When you have selected the sound you like, tap the Save button. If you prefer an extended alarm sound for this timer, tap the Extended Alarm option before tapping the Save button.
4e. If you created a Category in Step 3, you could tap the Categories button and verify that the timer is part of the category. If you haven't created any categories, however, the Categories selector would be empty. Note that a timer can be part of multiple categories (including both built-in categories and categories created by you).
4f. Next you can add a Photo to the timer by tapping the Photo button. You can choose a photo from your camera roll (on iPhone), or any from any photo album you have synched to your iPhone or iPod touch using iTunes.
4g. Press the Save button to save the timer.
4h. Now you should see the new timer at the top of the list.

5. A new timer always starts in the stopped position indicated by the square icon, unless you selected a date, in which case the countdown to the future date or count up from the past date starts automatically.

6a. To start a countdown timer, tap the down arrow icon. The timer will start counting down towards 00:00. When it reaches zero an alert will popup and a sound will be played. The timer will continue counting below zero to a negative number that shows how long it has been since it reached zero.
6b. To reset a countdown timer, tap the circle icon. If the timer has already crossed zero, the negative (overdue) value will be subtracted from the original countdown time. If you want to fully reset the timer to its original countdown time, first tap the square icon to stop the timer, then tap the circle icon.
6c. Once the timer is reset, again tap the down arrow icon to restart the countdown.

7. To start a count up timer, tap the up arrow icon. The timer will continue counting upward until another icon is pressed to stop, countdown, or reset. Count up timers do not play alarm sounds.

8. If you want to change a timer name or countdown value, tap the timer time or name. This brings up the Edit Timer form. You can change any settings you originally set in step 4 and tap the Save button to confirm. If you change the countdown value, you must reset the timer by tapping the circle icon before the new value takes effect.

9. If you want to rearrange the timer list or remove some timers, tap the Edit button. You can now move the timers in the list using the controls on the right side of each timer, or delete the timers by tapping the delete control on the left side. You can also delete timers without using the Edit button by swiping your finger across the timer name.

10. If you want to sort the timer list, tap the Organize button in the center of the tool bar at the bottom of the screen. You can sort the timers by name or time remaining, in either direction.

11. If you want to apply one of the four timer control actions (Stop, Count Up, Count Down, Reset) to all of the timers in the category at once, tap the Action button on the right side of the tool bar.

12. As you create more timers, you may want to go back to the Categories view and create more categories as in step 3. Then you can go to the original category you created, or the Uncategorized category, and assign timers to the new Categories you created.

13. You can also keep track of which timers have expired, are running, or are stopped, using the built-in Expired, Running, and Stopped categories.

14. You can rearrange and delete the categories on the Categories view, but the built-in categories cannot be moved or deleted. When you delete a category you created, you are given a choice to delete the timers in the category, or only the category.
